BuildTek (previously STRGI) is a B2B application that streamlines project management and communication within large construction projects. It was initially created by a company working in construction engineering as an internal tool.
The client reached out to us in 2024, wanting to make a more user-friendly and intuitive interface as well as a new visual identity as a part of commercialising their product.
The project is currently in progress. To respect client confidentiality, the client's identity and specific application functionalities will not be disclosed.
Background
I joined the project as the only designer, responsible for the UI, UX and branding process. Throughout the project i have:
• Conducted interviews and a workshop with stakeholders to get a better understanding of positioning, strategy, problem-statement and the users.
• Created a visual identity with brand guidelines.
• Successfully applied and customised our own headless design system.
• Redesigned the most crucial modules of the application.
The process
Discovery and preperations
Starting off the project i conducted a brand sprint with two stakeholders and two participants from Ur (including myself). We explored the the vision, values, audience, personality and competitors in the market, which gave us valuable insight and set the baseline for the project.

Further i conducted interviews with three stakeholders, who also serves as users of the product. The interviews were summarized in a persona, which gave me a better understanding of who they are, what they do, their challenges and needs.

Persona

The process continued creating moodboards which visually defined and communicate the look, feel, and tone of each brand concept.

With a visual baseline for two concepts i started experimenting with typography, shapes, and colors.
The process continued polishing selected logos and concepts which were then presented to the client.
Establishing a design system
In Ur we have been working on a internal design system, which was customised to fit the visual foundations of BuildTek.
